Printable Image Files:
All Vinyl Graphics can print most any image file. To verify your
image can be printed, email gettys@allvinylgraphics.com with the file extension. Examples would be picture1.jpg,
picture1.bmp, picture1.tif. A 7.2 Digital camara with the setting placed on high quality
(fine) will produce a printable image somewhere between 30 by 42
inches and will have a file size between 2.8 to 3 megs.
Artwork Specifications:
Being an all-digital print shop means that you can save time and
money by providing us with the correct computer files for your labels.
If everything is satisfactory we can send it directly to the press
to print.
Software Supported (Mac and PC versions), Adobe Photoshop (Versions 5-7, CS), Adobe Illustrator (Versions 8-9, CS), Corel Draw (Versions 9-12). Our preferred format is an Coral Draw CDR file. We prefer
all fonts converted to curves, otherwise please send the fonts with
your file.
Media - The easiest way to send us files is via email to gettys@allvinylgraphics.com.
We can receive email attachments 10 Megabytes plus, but keep in
mind that your outbound email server may have smaller limits. If
you're sending many files and/or email proves to be unreliable,
please burn a CD-ROM and send it to us.
Full Bleeds and layout requirements - A full bleed is when the color “bleeds” off the label.
If your label design or background color is intended to cover the
entire surface of the label, please note that we need a 1/16"
(0.0625") bleed around each edge of the label. For example,
if you have a 2” x 1” label where the color bleeds off
the edges, you should size your design to 2.125" x 1.125"
as this ensures a 1/16” bleed around the entire label. It's also wise to leave at least 1/16" (0.0625") of clear
space (i.e. no significant design elements or text) inside the die-line
to allow for slight shifts during die-cutting.
Other Considerations - Finished quality is controlled by starting quality! A real simple
example of what we are trying to say is to think of quality, (dpi)
as a 20.00 dollar bill. If you send me a 20 to work with we can
send you any combination back that totals to 20. On the other hand,
if you supply us with a 1.00 bill, we can't produce 20.00 dollar
quality.
Being an all-digital wide format printer, image mode and resolution are
extremely important to ensure correct color and clarity. All raster
(image-based) files need to have a resolution of 300 d.p.i. at actual
size. Our presses handle CMYK mode only - all RGB images will be
converted, which can cause extreme shifts in color.
Need design assistance?
If you don’t have an appropriate computer file or finished
design, we can help. Our internal designers are specialists at label
design and know what works best on our presses. We charge very reasonable
rates and happily provide no-obligation quotes before starting work.
You will be consulted throughout the design process and will have
ample opportunity to make changes if you choose. Proofs of your order can be viewed on our message board where questions, answers and suggestions can be made. Our firm goal is
to produce designs that YOU are comfortable with - after all, the
labels are going on your products!
Questions?
If any of the above is unclear or you need any other assistance
with artwork concerns, please email your questions our Prepress
Department at gettys@allvinylgraphics.com - we are happy to help and will respond promptly.
